Code of Conduct

CODE OF CONDUCT IS,
  • A list of rules governing the behaviour of certian individauls and/or groups.
  • while procedural rules tells us how the rules of a code of conduct are enforced.
Objestives of a personal Code of Conduct.
  • To be a central guide and reference for you in support of day to day decision making.
  • To clarify your mission, values and principles, linking them with standards of conduct.
Creating a personal code of conduct .
Creating a code of conduct is an important step towards becoming a leader with integrity.
It will serve as a central guide and referenc for you in making your daily decisions.
To creat you code of conduct, you should begin by identifying and listing the princes you value most.

Principles are guides to your conduct. your can select from the following principles;

Courtesy, fairness, Gratitude, Obedience, Generosity, Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Justice, Sincerity, Trrustworthiness, Patience, Honesty, Truthfulness, Transparency, Compassion, Punctuallity, Generosity, Loyalty, Honour others.

TIPS FOR CREATING YOUR PERSONAL CODE OF CONDUCT.
  • Think in terms of values, beliefs and expectations.
  • Keep you language simple.
  • Be consice.
  • Use active voice instead of pasive voice.
  • Craft your sentences in first person- Using "I" puts the full responsibility for good behavior on you.
EAMPLE A. PERSONAL CONE OF CONDUCT.
  •  I will tell the Truth at ALL times in ALL situations, no matter what others may say.
  • I will keep ALL my promises and commitments and HONOUR my word ALL the time.
  • I will TREAT othoers the way i want to be treated. I WILL NOT manipulate, insult,demean or mistreat anyone.
  • At home, i will TREAT my parents and siblings with utmost respect and courtesy.
  • I will NEVER steal, nor act rudely to my elders. I will strive to ALAWYS uphold my family's honour.
  • At school, i will always ACT in a manner true to my values and principles.
  • I will always be FAIR, JUST AND TOLERANT of differences in religions, beliefs and cultures.
  • I will ACT in a transparent and accountable manner when dealing with school or government funds and property.
  • I will NOT cheat during exams.
  • I will NOT PLAGIARIZE and i will endeavour to complete ALL my assignments on time
  • I will NEVER BRIBE my teachers or lectuers to change my scores.
EXAMPLE B. PERSONAL CODE OF CONDUCT.
  • I will be on time to work, appointments, meetings, and engagements.
  • I will never say any derogatory words to any of my colleagues.
  • I will never steal office supplies from my organization
  • I will openly declare all potential conflicts of interest in my life.
  • I will never ignore a red light while driving.
  • I will never come home later than 9:00p.m.
  •  I will  spend at least two hours every weekend with my family.
  • I will never use my company's money for personal purposes except from my salary and other officiall stipulated benefits.
